Activites for health and wellbeing

Would you like to gain new skills, increase your confidence, and make new friends?

Our activities are presented under the name ‘Choices’, as they offer exactly that, choice. It is about each person identifying their own personal goals, choosing the things they enjoy and having control over what they do.

What’s on offer?

Whether you’re looking to gain new skills, take up an accessible sport or increase your confidence and try something new, our range of activities and day services for disabled people truly have something for everyone!

Now a Paralympic sport, Boccia is a target ball sport, similar to Bowls, specifically created for disabled people. Boccia is an exhilarating and sociable indoor sport, which can be played by individuals, pairs or teams of three.

Keep Fit

Develop personal fitness at your own pace, and build strength gradually. A mix of movement exercises and the use of resistance bands, to help build strength and release tension.

Dance Fit

A fun and lively session to music, for building strength and stamina.

Boxing

A boxing-based exercise class, incorporating the use of punch pads and/or punch bags as appropriate. (Note this does not involve hitting others or being hit)

Yoga

A mix of yoga asanas (movements), breathwork, and relaxation/meditations, to build strength and manage stress.

Meditation/Relaxation

An opportunity to practise mindfulness meditations and guided journeys/relaxations, as a way of improving mental wellbeing and stress management.

Wellbeing

A course of mixed activities designed to support one’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. From self-confidence, and stress management, to improving one’s self-image, and helping to engage socially with others or with new life experiences.

Art Club

A course exploring an art topic, such as drawing skills, or famous artists/paintings from history. Each week will build on the last but can also be accessed as an individual session in its own right.

Camera Club

A course exploring the different styles of photography, as well as the various settings on a camera device. Plenty of practical opportunities to try out using different devices such as phones/ipads/digital cameras.

Upcycling

A workshop to renovate old furniture or repurpose other items which would otherwise be thrown away. Includes rubbing down, applying paint/decorative papers, using creativity and imagination, and learning about the importance of recycling.

Choir

Weekly singing rehearsals, exploring a range of songs and genres. Includes opportunities to perform in front of an audience.

Textiles

A relaxed group with an emphasis on socialising whilst exploring a variety of textile crafts such as weaving, knitting, and sewing.

Discos

An informal social get together, sometimes with a theme. Includes refreshments.

Healthy Cooking

An opportunity to learn about basic nutrition and how to create balanced meals.

Gardening Club

Practical experience with a range of gardening activities from seed sowing through to harvest.

If you would like to join any of the activities on offer, have a question or want to learn more about our health and wellbeing activities, then please contact us.
