The countdown is on for the 2026 London Marathon, and this year, 13 incredible runners are lacing up in support of Enham Trust.

Preparing for a marathon is tough in any year, but the winter just gone has added its own challenges. With relentless rain, flooded footpaths, and more soggy miles than anyone bargained for, our runners have pushed through every downpour. Between early-morning training sessions, windy and damp long runs and the added commitment of fundraising, they’ve shown extraordinary resilience and dedication.

As marathon day approaches on Sunday 26 April, we caught up with the team to hear about their journeys so far — the highs, the hurdles, and what it means to them to run those famous miles in aid of Enham Trust.

Georgia started running two years ago. What began as harmless competitiveness grew into a genuine love for pushing her limits, eventually leading her to the one thing she swore she’d never do: run a marathon.

Through her work, Georgia has seen firsthand the impact Enham Trust has on people’s lives, which led her to sign up for Team Enham 2026.

“Because of that connection, choosing Enham Trust felt very natural. Rather than supporting a charity from a distance, I wanted to do more for an organisation whose impact I see and understand personally. Seeing the difference they make every day made me want to contribute in a more meaningful way, and running the marathon felt like a great opportunity to support a charity doing such important work.”

Not every training run goes to plan. She once set out for a 20K run, only to give up at 5K and walk home in the rain with two share bags of chocolate and a packet of biscuits. She describes it as “a bit of a disaster.” But found the funny side in the moment.

Two days later, she tried again, smashed it, and finished strong.

Georgia’s main goal is simple yet powerful: enjoy the experience and finish proud.

Steve isn’t new to the London Marathon. In 2024, he completed the iconic race alongside his daughter, raising money for Enham Trust, an experience that left a lasting impact. Inspired to take it on again, he chose to return to Team Enham in 2026.

Working for the Motability Foundation, Steve feels a strong connection to Enham Trust’s mission. Our commitment to supporting disabled people aligns closely with his day to day work, making it the natural choice for another marathon challenge.

“I was fortunate to run the London Marathon in 2024 with my daughter raising money for the Enham Trust. I wanted to run the marathon again this year and knowing what the Enham Trust do with all the support and help for disabled people reflects in my day job working for the Motability Foundation. ”

Training has been going well for Steve, even if the weather hasn’t always cooperated. He jokes that it feels like there hasn’t been a single weekend without rain. However, despite that, he’s recently hit a big milestone: reaching 20 miles in training!

Steve’s target for marathon day is to finish in around 4 hours 30 minutes. He says this will “definitely” be his last marathon, though he admits that if his daughter asked him to run another, he could probably be convinced.

Gem has dreamed of running the London Marathon for years, entering the ballot more than eleven times.

When she joined Aster and learned more about Enham Trust, everything clicked into place. With a background in care, supporting dementia patients, adults with cancer and working at Treloar’s (a specialist school and college for disabled children and young adults), she discovered a meaningful link: some of the young people she once supported at Treloar’s have grown up and now live in Supported Living accommodation at Enham. It felt, in her words, “meant to be.”

“I appreciate everyone that works to provide amazing support to not just the disabled community but the families and friends around them. Disability is not something that should fall short of support or awareness and I’m proud to do my small part to help where I can. ”

One of the highlights of Gem’s marathon journey has been meeting her running partner and coach, Kev. They only met last autumn, but he’s been there for every step of her training, planning routes, pacing, gels, and water stops so she can simply focus on running. Gem says she couldn’t have done this without his support.

Gem’s goal for marathon day is to finish strong, ideally around the five hour mark, but most importantly, finish running and be injury free. And once she crosses the line? A well earned celebration at the pub!

Tom started running during the COVID-19 pandemic. Having been furloughed and craving ways to stay connected and grounded, he began running and exploring the quiet areas around him. What started as a simple outlet soon became something deeper - a way to discover new routes, build fitness, and later, share miles with friends who helped keep the motivation going.

When he started a new and mentally demanding job in 2023, running became his release. Long runs provided space to decompress and reset, and the rush of endorphins reaffirmed why he kept going. By 2024, Tom knew he wanted to channel this passion into something bigger and decided to take on his first ever marathon, whilst doing it for a charity that means a great deal to him.

Tom’s connection with Enham Trust is personal. His fiancée works for the charity, giving him a first-hand view of the extraordinary care and life-changing support provided to disabled people.

“Raising money on their behalf is a genuine pleasure and I hope to raise more money for them in the future. I know that the money I raise will greatly benefit the amazing people they support. ”

Tom’s training highlight has been watching his own fitness transform. Every long run feels like a milestone, a reminder of how far he’s come, and he gets just as much joy from seeing his fellow runners hit their goals. Knowing he’ll be cheering them across the finish line gives him a huge boost.

Tom’s goal for marathon day is to finish in one piece and soak up every moment. After he crosses the iconic finishing line, he plans to keep on running, because this journey has shown him he’s capable of far more than he ever imagined.

Andrew has been running on and off for many years, but a knee injury once forced him to stop altogether and turn to walking instead. When he started running again, he joined a local running club and took part in their Couch to 5K sessions. Five years on, he’s taken part in several competitive races and has now joined Team Enham for 2026!

“When I decided I wanted to run a Marathon, I applied for a place through Enham Trust… The reason I chose Enham Trust is because they helped my disabled daughter Gemma to find work when many employers were unable to see past her physical disabilities. I was thrilled when I got a place! This is a great way to give something back to them. ”

Despite all his training, Andrew admits the funniest part of his marathon journey: he doesn’t actually enjoy running! But he has felt pleased watching his progress. Following the official London Marathon beginner’s training plan, he was delighted to hit the 1 hour running mark, then the 2 hour mark, as well as still keeping up with most of the younger members of his running club.

With the marathon taking place just after his 60th birthday, Andrew’s main goal is simply to finish. “Even if I come last, I’ll still be in front of everyone sat at home on their couches!”

After this milestone, he plans to go out on a high and step back from competitive races, ending his marathon journey on a well earned celebration.

Ashley has dipped in and out of running for years but had never truly tested his limits. The idea of running a marathon had always been in the back of his mind, a “one day” challenge. So, when the opportunity finally came up, he couldn’t say no. This was his moment to see what he was capable of.

His connection to Enham Trust comes through his wife, Sadie who has worked for the charity since 2020. Through her, Ashley has personally seen the day-to-day impact Enham Trust makes to disabled people in the local community. Supporting a charity so close to home and so close to his family, made joining Team Enham an easy choice.

“My wife has worked for Enham Trust for 6 years now, which has meant I’ve been able to see firsthand the huge benefit that the charity provides disabled people. What’s better than supporting a truly local charity?! ”

Training has been a shared experience for Ashley and Sadie. Come rain, cold, or both, they’ve been out completing their long runs together, motivating each other through every mile. It’s been a challenge, but also something they’ve tackled side by side.

Ashely’s goal is simple: to finish. “Who knows, I may even push myself to run another."

Sadie admits that running has never come easy to her. She’s tried to take up the hobby multiple times, and it simply refused to stick. That was until 2024, when she decided to join her sister at their local parkrun. What started as a reluctant Saturday experiment quickly became a weekly ritual she genuinely looked forward to.

Sadie began working for Enham Trust in 2019 and describes the experience as “both hard and rewarding.” During her time at the charity, she’s witnessed the challenges thousands of disabled people are faced with across the UK every year and how Enham are working incredibly hard to help make a meaningful difference for disabled people, supporting them to live, work and enjoy life their way.

Her pride in Enham’s work only grew further when watching her colleague Sarah take on the 2025 London Marathon in aid of Enham Trust, inspiring Sadie to sign up for the challenge too.

“I'm so proud to work for Enham and be a part of the difference being made for disabled people. So much so, I want everyone on the streets of London to know about it come 26 April 2026! ”

Among the parkruns and long training runs, one moment stands out clearly, which was completing her first half marathon at Battersea Park. Smashing her target time and experiencing that unforgettable ‘runner’s high’ was a huge confidence boost. But she also describes it as “a very daunting feeling” knowing that she’ll need to run twice the distance on marathon day.

Sadie’s main goal for the marathon is to cross the finish line, whatever the clock says. However, the competitor in her does have a secret target she’d love to beat, but she’s just keeping that one quiet for now.

One thing she’s certain about? She won’t be hanging up her running shoes after this. The running bug has well and truly bitten. Expect to see her at her local parkrun for many Saturdays to come!
