Strive is Enham Trust’s newest Supported Employment service, helping other organisations to become more disability inclusive and to achieve Disability Confident status through the government’s Disability Confident Scheme.

Strive hosted its first virtual coffee morning in April to talk all things disability and employment with local employers. We caught up with our Employer Engagement & Relationship Manager, Steven Aughton, to hear all about the event's success.

“We had fantastic support from employers of varying sizes coming together to meet Enham Trust, the Strive team, and to discuss disability in the workplace and the government’s Disability Confident scheme. We had attendees from Co-Op, Market Operator Services Ltd (MOSL), Basingstoke and District Disability Forum, Tenpin Bowling and Travelodge.”

What is the Disability Confident Scheme?

"The Disability Confident Scheme is a beacon that shines a bright light on organisations that are positive towards disability. The scheme not only promotes employers’ recruiting and retention of disabled people but is welcoming to people from the disability community as customers, service users and clients."

“It has substantial benefits to all businesses, and we want to work with employers to develop their disability confidence, achieve accreditation, while tapping into the vast pool of talent that the disability community offers.”

Strive’s next coffee morning

“The next coffee morning will be more interactive with networking and guest speaker Ling from Compassionate Cuppa, discussing Mental Health and Wellbeing in the work place.”

Find out more and register for the next virtual coffee morning on Wednesday 21st July 10.00am - 11.30am here.
