Full and Part-Time Employment Opportunities Available Job Description: Exciting opportunity to be part of a new Supported Living team for one adult with physical disabilities in Plymouth. Based in Plymouth (near City Centre), with a basic rate of £9.00 per hour + excellent benefits, you will be responsible for encouraging and supporting the client to define and develop his chosen lifestyle through person-centred care and goal/target setting. You will be supporting the client to continue to develop life skills, confidence and a ‘meaningful’ life in their community. Working alongside the client to enable him to complete daily activities including gym attendance/work out, plan & participate in social & other activities/outings and helping the client ‘back to employment’ through their business. You will assist the client with daily living skills, housing related matters, attending medical/other appointments, to find social opportunities and to help with medication and personal care. Several working options are currently available, including daytime, evening, weekend work and holiday cover to suit both the client and the employer. Shift patterns may change due to appointments &, or to accommodate holidays/sickness of my care team hence occasional flexibility in hours to be worked is desirable; the client should be able to give advance notice of shift changes. Holiday dates each year will be by agreement with the client. Notice of planned holiday dates will be required to allow alternative care cover to be arranged. Hours: Negotiable, possible work shifts include morning/afternoon/whole day/evenings, weekdays and weekends. Maximum 37.5 hours per week/care assistant. More than 1 personal care assistant employed. Minimum shift/day = 4 hours, shift examples shown below: Monday-Wednesday: 08:00 - 18:00 or 08:00 - 14:00 & 17:00 - 21:00 Thursday-Sunday (as required): 08:00/10:00 - 18:00/22:30 Pay: £8.72 per hour + Holiday + Pension + Benefits. Desirable Criteria: The client is seeking confident individuals who are comfortable working and chatting with disabled people, able to use creative approaches to meet their client’s individual needs and who are keen to support their client to maximise his independence. You will need to be able to offer some flexibility to meet service needs, be computer literate and a confident communicator. Experience in Supported Living or supported housing settings would be advantageous but is not compulsory. Must be willing & able to prepare & cook meals for client, who enjoys at least 1 freshly cooked meal per day (typical English meals + occasional pasta, curries). Occasional opportunity to travel to support client’s holiday/social activities. Must speak fluent English, read & write in English; Honesty Car owners/drivers [insured] willing to transport & accompany the client to and from appointments e.g. doctor, social activities, days out etc. [mileage will be paid by bank transfer only]. Car owners/drivers preferred, but not essential; Must assist the client with personal care tasks daily; Prepare & cook meals - breakfast, lunch & dinner. Home-cooked meals required; not microwaved dinners; Will be responsible for housekeeping and personal care tasks e.g. cleaning, laundry etc. Benefits: Up to 26 days’ holiday and 8 days’ bank holiday entitlement [or days in lieu].
