Pay: £8.91 directly by the employer

Place of work: Employer’s home and in the community

Hours:  27 hours per week to be divided between 2 assistants, during school term time from 8am to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Extra hours may be available.


We are looking for dependable, compassionate and understanding individuals to become Personal Assistants for a disabled mother, to enable her to look after her child whilst her husband is in full time employment and education, ensuring both mother and baby’s safety.

As a Personal Assistant, you will be responsible for the safe manual handling of a baby and equipment to allow the mother to care for her, whilst also moving items to allow the mother to complete domestic chores and hobbies. There will be occasions where you will be required to assist the mother in taking the baby out of the house to attend appointments and socialize.

You will need to be able to establish a close and friendly working relationship with the parents and be able to communicate clearly and listen effectively whilst following instructions.   


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manual Handling of a baby as directed by the mother to enable her to care for the baby.
  • Moving of items as directed by the mother to allow the completion of domestic chores and hobbies.
  • Assist the mother as directed to enable her to take the baby to appointments and socialize.
  • Communicate clearly your needs to the parents and reporting no less than 24 hours in advance (excepting emergencies) if unable to attend a shift so that appropriate cover can be arranged.


Essential requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS required. Cost met by employer
  • Legally entitled to work in the U.K.
  • Manual Handling of Babies and Children Qualification. Course provided and cost met by the employer upon successful application
  • Good Time Keeping and Dependable
  • Good Communication and Listening Skills
  • Compassionate, Understanding and Patient


Desirable requirements:

  • Experience with babies and children
  • Experience in supporting disabled individuals
  • Clean UK Drivers Licence
