Job Overview:

The job will be working with a 6 year old Autistic boy, partly working in the home and also taking him out and about. The post will require a DBS check.

In the home it would be engaging in creative activities, encouraging interaction, general personal care, encouraging some sort of routine with creativity

Outdoors would include nice walks, maybe swimming eventually, taking him to the park, playing games outdoors, visiting the train station, watching the world go by, going to the Zoo, Community farm visits to Charlies farm.

Hours: Ideally 20 hours per week during school holidays with some flexibility for some termtime hours.  

Ideal Candidate

  • Preferably a car driver
  • Preferably an idea of working with an adult or child with special needs
  • Reliable and Punctual
  • Patient
  • Calm

Type of experience required:

Although it would be preferable for someone to have knowledge of working with people with autism, the first few weeks there would be some shadowing of the parents to create a bond, so you would have the opportunity to develop some of that knowledge. The bond created is far more important. The parents will be on hand initially to assist and always contactable to help.

             An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring service (DBS) will be required the cost                    will be met by the employer

        Length of experience required: For the right candidate, experience is not essential

Full Driving Licence: Preferable

Use of Own Car: If possible

Gender: any

Language: The ability to learn the limited sign language that the child uses
