Jobs Work as an independent carer (PA) Personal Care Assistant Job Ref: SB/FM | Permanent | Plymouth PL5 | Hourly Rate £8.21 | Closing Date: 31st July 2019 Job overview A Personal Care Assistant is required to support a male service user in the PL5 area of Plymouth with various daily living tasks including social and recreational activities. Kayaking experience would be desirable as support with kayaking will be required, however full training will be provided. Duties will include personal care, support with laundry, cleaning, meal preparation, attending to two dogs, taking medication and shopping. Support will also be required to support the client to access the wider community, attending trips away and camping. An ability to motivate is essential but this must be coupled with an understanding of when the employer is unable to carry out such tasks. The applicant must have a sense of humour, be a good listener, have good conversation skills and must like dogs. An understanding of mental health and physical disabilities is desirable in order to best support the client to live independently. Hours 2 x 1.5hrs morning shifts.2 x 45 minute evening shifts and holiday cover (variable and flexible). Main duties Personal care and prompting with medication Provide support to attend appointments (locally and also in London when required) and access the community Supporting to access Kayaking, camping trips and other leisure activities Support with household duties and helping clean dog waste from the garden Any other reasonable task to allow the service user to live independently Essential requirements Must like dogs Enhanced DBS required.
