Personal Care Assistant for 17 year old young man

Somerton TA11


On average 4 hours/week.
An afternoon every other weekend in term time and then half day a week in school holidays

I am a teenage boy. I need a PA to help me go out every other Sunday, swimming or for a trip to a park/cafe. I am autistic and have moderate learning difficulties. I will need some help in the changing rooms when we go swimming this means that the job is only suitable for a male.

I need a personal assistant to assist me in all areas of my social life, both at home and in the community. Your role is to enable me to lead an individual and independent life in my own home.

7am-9am – Help me get washed and dressed for the day
11am-1pm (3 days a week) – Drive me in to town to various places; library, cinema etc

• To enable me to undertake any chosen and agreed activity, inside or outside my home.
• This will be on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in term time and then once or twice a week, by agreement, in school holidays
• Assistance getting changed for and after swimming
• Assistance with getting to and taking part in social activities
• Assistance visiting a park or cafe

Essential requirements
You must be able to drive and have a car
You must be reliable, have some flexibility with hours, you must respect my privacy and understand my need for confidentiality. You will work under my parents direction, you are accountable to my parents and you should respond to my requests.

Desired experience
Experience of working with young adults with autism.
