Job overview:

To support young lady with a learning disability and with interest in music, dance and theatre to access an art group, swimming and walking. To provide general support, encouragement and empowerment, supporting the employer to achieve greater independence through the use of Direct Payments, in experiencing and participating in community based social activities that reflect her interests and aspirations.

Hours: 10 hours per week, including every Wednesday and extra hours Thursday and occasional evenings if possible (times flexible)

Main Duties

  • Provide focus, motivational support and assist with accessing community and provide support and companionship in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Pay regard to health and safety when participating in activities, pointing out potential hazards and discussing appropriate avoidance strategies in a calm, sensitive and supportive manner.
  • Promote, encourage and develop the service user’s independence.
  • Accompany the service user in using their own transport to travel to and from activities.
