Our Information, Advice and Guidance service supports clients and their families to set up and manage a NHS Direct Payment or Personal Health Budgets (PHB). Putting the control back into the hands of our clients and empowering them to live independently and manage their PHB, we provide payroll and administration support, Managed Account services for Direct Payments, and PHB support service.

For Daniel, 30 from Somerset, his Direct Payment has enabled him to attend a wide range of activities and make new friends.

Here, Daniel’s mum Breda tells their story…

“We moved from Essex to Somerset and needed to get Daniel set up on Direct Payments with Somerset County Council. It took a while to get in touch with social care services when we moved, but we got set up with Enham Trust in November 2017. James, our advisor, was brilliant and got everything sorted for us.

“The Direct Payment means that Daniel can use the money to attend Westhay Opportunity Centre two days per week, and has been going there now for a few months. Daniel has made new friends at the Centre and can be with other people his age, which is really important.

“At Westhay, they do lots of different activities like swimming, fitness, arts and crafts, cooking and cycling. Daniels favourite activities are chopping kindling and caring for the sheep; on his first day, he fed a calf which he loved!

“Where Daniel now goes to Westhay, it means that we can have a break as well. The Direct Payment has given all the family more flexibility and more variety of activities that Daniel can get involved in.

“I think meeting James has changed all of our lives, but especially Daniel. I would absolutely recommend the service we have received as it has changed his life in more ways than I could have imagined.”
