Spring has well and truly sprung at Enham Trust’s charity shop
Leading disability charity Enham Trust, based in Enham Alamein near Andover, has this week welcomed The Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Karen Hamilton, to their charity shop & café.
The visit, which marks the launch of the shop’s new & improved café menu, saw The Mayor learn more about the premises, its role within the village, and the staff working there; stopping for a cup of tea and to sample the new menu.
A cornerstone of the local community, Enham Trust’s charity shop & café is run predominantly by volunteers, alongside Charity Shop Manager Maggie Sanders, who has a wealth of experience in the field.
A previous volunteer at the Trust, the Mayor of Test Valley visited the shop in time for the start of Volunteer Appreciation Month this April; a time for Third Sector organisations such as Enham Trust to publically thank their volunteers and share some of the wonderful stories and successes behind the people & corporations who so often give their time and support for free.
The Mayor of Test Valley comments:
I really enjoyed my afternoon at the Enham Trust charity shop & café, from having a go on the till, and meeting volunteers, to enjoying a cup of tea and sampling the new menu whilst catching up about where Enham Trust is today.
It was a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful to see the support from not just local residents but from afar coming to enjoy this venue. Enham is a unique community with a strong volunteering network, I am extremely impressed with all the volunteer’s I meet, their dedication, time and commitment makes a difference to people’s lives in a positive way
Enham Trust currently supports over 8,500 disabled people living across the country to live lives of choice, control, and independence; something the organisation couldn’t achieve without the support of both corporate and individual volunteers. Last year alone, over 170 volunteers contributed over £250,000 worth of their time to the charity.
