Marvellous Marmalade Makers!
Clients and residents at leading Hampshire-based disability charity Enham Trust, recently made their own marmalade through our on-site Training Kitchen, one of our life-skill services.
Twelve handmade marmalade entries were submitted to the World’s Original Marmalade Festival at Dalmain House, Cumbria, on 17th March 2018. After much deliberation and consultation, Enham Trust was collectively awarded a total of 6 silver and 6 bronze awards.
Diana Smith, Nutritional Advisor, said of their success:
“I am so pleased that all our individual entries have placed silver and bronze awards in such a prestigious marmalade competition. As a group, we like to experiment with flavours and textures, and create new recipes that everyone can enjoy.
“I would like to congratulate everyone as they all have worked so hard over the last few weeks to produce some delicious marmalade.”
The Training Kitchen supports disabled people to learn new skills such as cooking meals from scratch, fine motor skills and nutrition. With rise and fall worktops, the Training Kitchen is accessible for wheelchair users.
Enham Trust currently supports thousands of disabled people across the country each year in the key areas of their lives by providing housing, care, and various employment & skills opportunities to ensure each customer gains independence, choice, and control over every aspect of their lives.
