Enham Alamein deemed ‘visionary’ in Village of the Year 2016
The village of Enham Alamein has been deemed ‘visionary’ in the Hampshire Village of the Year 2016 competition.
The picturesque village of Enham Alamein has been deemed ‘visionary’ in the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Village of the Year awards for 2016.
As joint winners of the headline accolade – Village of the Year – which they shared with the largest village in England, Bembridge, for 2015, this unique place – situated in the heart of rural Test Valley – had the honour of hosting the awards ceremony this year at leading disability charity Enham Trust, in the centre of the village.
Scooping up an impressive 2 awards during the event, Enham Alamein was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Village of the Year Award, whilst achieving 1st place in the Excellence in Localism Award; recognising the village’s visionary work.
The Village of the Year Awards, sponsored by Fullers Brewery with involvement from the Hampshire Association of Local Councillors, recognises the rich history, current achievements, and future plans of outstanding villages within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
“We’re delighted to have been recognised once again for our efforts,” comments Leslie Francis, Chairman of Enham Alamein Parish Council. “It really is a great honour and shows our commitment to ensuring that Enham Alamein remains a wonderful place to live.”
The accolade also celebrates the efforts of the Trust and the Parish Council to improve facilities for all and provide an active caring community.
