Job Ref JK/FM | Permanent | Plymouth | Pay Rate £10-£12 per hour | Closing Date: 30th Sept. 2021

Job Title: Male Care and Support Worker
Location: Plymouth
Pay Rate: £10.00 – £12.00
Hours: 30 - 35 hours a week - variable shifts including weekends

I am a 30-year-old man who is seeking a reliable person to be part of my care team. I really appreciate having team members who are positive and have a ‘can do ‘attitude.
I like my independence and use an electric wheelchair. I have an adapted van that my team members drive to get me out and about. I enjoy going to the cinema and theatre. I am a keen writer and like to spend time on my computer. I have a wide taste in music and I am an animal lover.
I need help with all aspects of my daily life; with personal care, medical needs and household chores. I enjoy being with people who have a good sense of humour.

Main Duties
It is essential that you have a full manual driving licence to drive my van and allow me access to the community.
The role involves use of a ceiling track hoist, respiratory equipment and giving medication.
Full assistance with personal care and feeding. Full training will be given in all aspects of my care.
The respiratory equipment is aerosol generating and therefore full PPE is available and worn for part of the day (training available in its use).
There are some basic household chores to do during quiet times like cleaning and ironing.

Essential requirements
Must have a full manual driving licence and be willing to drive an adapted vehicle.
Willingness to learn and be trained in all aspects of the role.
Desired experience
Have the ability to work flexible shifts during the week and at weekends. The shifts include, morning, day time and evening shifts. All shifts are in rotation with other team members. A rota is written 3 weeks ahead.
Ability to work in an organised and methodical way is an advantage.
Previous care experience may be an advantage, depending on previous roles, however, the willingness to learn and an aptitude for care is more important.
