Job ref: MP/PPH | Permanent | Overton RG25 | Pay Rate: £10 ph | Closing Date: Ongoing

Job Overview:
Female personal support Assistant for a 22 year old woman in Overton.

Pay Rate: £10 per hour.

Hours: 5 hours per week - flexible to suit both parties.

I am a creative and articulate young woman who currently attends a work training scheme for 1 ½ days per week at a café in Basingstoke. I enjoy art and craft work, cooking, going to the cinema, bowling, doing puzzles and board games.

I have cerebral palsy (hemiplegia) which restricts my movement and mobility on one side of my body and I sometimes use a wheelchair to get around. I also have epilepsy and you will need to be willing to have training to support me safely.

I would like a fun PA who has a good sense of humour and who preferably enjoys supporting me in craft activities. I need support to help me access the community to build on my independence and social life.

Ideally I want a PA who wants to have fun with me and to engage in activities with me that we can both enjoy.

Main Duties:
Be willing to help me with art and craft activities.
Help me with some personal care needs sometimes – such as taking me swimming and helping me change; and sometimes hair washing / help with getting in and out of bath.
Drive me to participate in activities such as swimming or shopping.
Help me gain independence skills.
Respect my families home environment.
Work with me and my Mother to ensure my needs are met.
Be willing to administer my emergency medication if required (very rare!)

Essential Requirements:
You must have a car and a driving licence.
Be willing to get to know me and my individual needs.
Have a warm and caring attitude.
Be friendly, fun and outgoing and able to think of activities to engage us both.
Be able to use their own initiative.
Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
Be tactful.
Be able to speak English clearly.
Adopt a person centred approach to their support.
Be able to work in an empowering manner.
Physically fit and healthy to be able to adequately assist me.
