Overview
Team of two: Personal Care Assistants required for a woman in her 40s with complex medical and personal care needs, supporting daily activities.

Introduction
I am a woman in my 40s. I live with my parents. I have Elhers Danlos syndrome. I am full-time
wheelchair user with complex care needs.
I enjoy photography, wildlife, especially garden birds,
I like to visit gardens centres or local shops.
You will be helping me with daily living, personal care and enabling me to do the things I enjoy.

Duties
Communicate effectively with the client, their family and my team of PAs to ensure the care package works effectively

Provide compassionate personal care, maintaining physical comfort, i.e., regular repositioning. Use of equipment hoist and wheelchair.

Be attentive to client emotional and physical
wellbeing, including providing companionship, and where possible minimizing stress

Provide support with medical needs, including
administering daily medication, PEG care, feeding and catheter management.

Proactively assist with preparation of food and drinks. Provide support for eating and drinking.
Light household tasks to maintain a comfortable home environment

Good observation skills to monitor changes in health. Any issues arising, seek assistance and escalate concerns promptly

Hours: 12-hour shifts 7am – 7pm Monday and
Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday alternate
weekends. (To be worked flexibly)

Rate: £11.50 - £12.00

Essential
Awareness of infection control measures, including maintaining good hand hygiene
Reliable, honest & trustworthy
Good interpersonal skills, a compassionate, genuine and sensitive approach to the client and family
Good time management
Good self-care strategies

Desired Experience
Previous care experience preferable
Peg and catheter experience, (or willingness to be trained)
Hoisting experience, (or willingness to be
Trained)
Desirable to have shared interests so joint
participation may be possible

Driver must be over 25 for insurance purposes
